School Principal’s Message 2026-2027

As I begin my fourth year as Principal of Lingnan Hang Yee Memorial Secondary School, my heart remains filled with gratitude and hope. Last year, under the theme “The sky’s the limit and there is no place like home,” we joyfully celebrated our 35th Anniversary. Each of us is a living thread in the tapestry of Lingnan Hang Yee’s history—yet I want you to remember this: our 50th Anniversary, and even our 100th, will arrive sooner than we imagine. So starting today, we press forward with purpose—enhancing our teaching, preserving our humble school spirit, refining our students’ character, and strengthening the fine traditions that define us. These are not mere aspirations; they are actions, they are commitments—our pledge to prepare for the 50th and 100th Anniversaries!

Our school will continue to uphold the tradition of being “Love and Respect.” We will remain flexible in our teaching approaches, forward-looking in our curriculum design, and ever more attentive in our student support. We pursue not only academic excellence, but also the cultivation of students of integrity, responsibility, compassion, and empathy. I firmly believe that every student is unique. Our school will invest more resources in leadership training, student support, and values education, so that students of all abilities and backgrounds can find their own stage and envision their own future.

As we embark on a new three-year School Development Plan, I am pleased to announce our two core focuses for 2026-2029:“Nurturing Servant-Leadership Qualities”and“Cultivating Care, Respect, Self-Discipline, and a Law-Abiding Spirit.”This isboth a continuation of our “bridging the past and future” ethos and a renewed commitment to every member of the Hang Yee family.

1) Cultivating Servant-Leaders, Deepening Ownership and Responsibility

Over the past three years, I have witnessed the academic and athletic growth and potential of our students. To fully unleash this potential, our primary task is to nurture students as “servant-leaders”—leaders whose foundation is service to others—and this begins with taking ownership of their own learning. In the coming three years, we will focus on deepening a culture of self-directed learning: from refining our Secondary 1 bridging programme and strengthening goal-setting, to promoting post-assessment reflections, we hope students will gradually develop the habit of becoming reflective learners. At the same time, through enhanced gifted education and differentiated assignments, we will address learning diversity and uncover the unique strengths of each student.

In the era of artificial intelligence, we are also actively equipping our students to use AI effectively and responsibly. Our school will develop AI-assisted learning initiatives and strengthen information literacy education, teaching students to discern the authenticity of information and to transform technology from a source of passive entertainment into a tool for enhancing learning—preparing them well for the future.

2) Building a Caring Campus, Fostering Law-Abiding Citizens

An ideal home for growth is built upon care, respect, and discipline. We will enhance our class teacher periods and reward schemes, strengthen emotional education, and introduce  programmes that prioritise quality over quantity—allowing students to learn and reflect through service and meaningful experiences. We will also strengthen parent education and promote home-school cooperation, working together to nurture our children and embody the warmth of “there is no place like home.”

Meanwhile, we will establish clear and consistent behavioural expectations, helping students understand the values and meaning behind our school rules—that they are designed to protect, guide, and nurture, not merely to restrict. We aim to cultivate a spirit of self-discipline and law-abiding citizenship, while deepening our students’ national identity through national education activities, so that they grow into responsible citizens.

3) Uniting as One, Extending Christ’s Love

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our school council for their wise guidance, to our dedicated teaching and support staff for their professionalism and commitment, to our parents for their steadfast trust and partnership through every season, and to our alumni for their legacy and support. In the coming three years, we will continue to be guided by Christ’s love and teachings, promoting school-wide service activities and broadening our students’ perspectives as global citizens, impacting lives with lives.

I am confident that, by the grace and strength of our Lord, we will soar on wings like eagles and together write the next glorious chapter of Lingnan Hang Yee.
